A group of armed assailants fired shots targeting the house of expatriate BNP activist Rustam Ali in Raozan, Chattogram, just a day before the election. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Shamsherpara village in Kadolpur union.

According to local and police sources, 10-12 armed individuals suddenly appeared at Rustam Ali's residence around noon, fired blank shots, and fled the scene after hurling abuses. Police and army personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information, but the assailants had already fled. No one was arrested during the operation.

Despite speaking with the expatriate's family members, the identity of the attackers could not be confirmed immediately.

Party sources said Rustam Ali is known as a follower of BNP parliamentary candidate Gias Uddin Kader Chowdhury from the Rouzan constituency.

Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sazedul Islam said, "We received information about gunfire at the expatriate's house and went to the spot along with the army. The reason behind the firing and those involved in the incident are yet to be confirmed. Legal action will be taken following investigation."
