Expatriate Bangladeshis’ postal vote registration crosses 92,000
A total of 92,144 expatriate voters have registered through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The EC shared this updated information published at 8:00am on Sunday (November 30). of these, 77,346 are men and 14,799 are women.
The IT-based postal voting system allows expatriate Bangladeshis, legally protected individuals, and election officials to vote by mail. Registration through the app is mandatory.
The registration drive, which began on November 19, will continue until December 23. So far, expatriates from countries including South Korea, Japan, South Africa, China, Egypt, Libya, Hong Kong, Australia, the USA, and Saudi Arabia have registered.
Once registration is complete, ballots will be mailed to voters’ addresses and must be returned in sealed envelopes to the designated returning officer.
The EC aims to include 5 million expatriate voters under this initiative.
