Police recovered the bodies of a Saudi expatriate, his wife and their young daughter from a house in Barahichar village of Manikganj Sadar upazila on Saturday (September 19) afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Akram Hossain, 40, who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia; his wife Priyanka, 24; and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Aliza. Akram was the son of late Nurul Haque of Barahichar village.

According to police and local sources, Akram returned home from Saudi Arabia about three months ago. He lived with his family in a separate room in the same house as his mother, brother and sister-in-law.

As Akram and his wife had not come out of their room by Saturday afternoon, relatives became suspicious. At one point, Akram’s mother looked through a gap in the door and saw her son hanging inside the room and raised an alarm.

Neighbours then arrived, broke open the door and found the bodies of all three family members. Police were subsequently informed and recovered the bodies from the scene.

Police said Akram was found hanging, while multiple bloodied injury marks were visible on his wife Priyanka’s face. Although there were no visible injuries on the body of their daughter Aliza, police initially suspect that the child may have been strangled.

Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munir Hossain confirmed the recovery of the three bodies. “The matter will be confirmed after the investigation,” he said.
