Expatriates' registration for postal vote exceeds 30,000

More than 30,000 Bangladeshi expatriates have registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app ahead of the 13th national parliamentary elections, the Election Commission (EC) announced on Tuesday (November 25).

Registered voters will receive ballot papers by mail and return them to the designated returning officer after voting.

Registration windows for different regions:

East Asia, South America, Africa: November 19–28
North America, Australia, New Zealand: November onward 23
Saudi Arabia: December 4–8
South Asia & Southeast Asia: December 9–13
Other Middle Eastern countries: December 14–18
Residents in Bangladesh: December 19–23

Expatriates must register from their current country of residence using the app, completing steps including account creation, NID verification, face recognition, and passport/address submission. Registration takes 5–10 minutes.

The EC aims to register 5 million expatriate voters and will publish a separate electoral roll for them.
