Explosion at Barishal court gate, case filed against unidentified persons

A case has been filed against unidentified individuals over an explosion at the main gate of Barishal District and Sessions Judge's Court. The case was filed under the Explosive Substances Act at Kotwali Model Police Station on Wednesday night by Court PSI Md Kamrul Haider Rubaiyat.

Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Al Mamun-ul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday morning. He said an investigation is underway to identify those involved in the explosion. Efforts are being made to identify and arrest those responsible.

The OC said the nature of the explosive object that went off at the court's main gate has not yet been confirmed. The exact type of explosive will be known after forensic testing.

Earlier, on Wednesday morning around 10:45am, a cocktail-like object exploded near the main gate of the Barishal District and Sessions Judge's Court. The sudden loud blast caused panic among litigants, lawyers and others present at the court premises.

No casualties were reported in the explosion. Police and other law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene after receiving the news, collected evidence and began investigating the cause.

Police said various angles are being examined to identify those involved in the explosion. Meanwhile, the recovered evidence is being tested to determine the nature of the explosive and to gather information about those involved in the incident.
