Explosive-like object recovered from BNP office in Jashore
Police have recovered an explosive-like object from the 4 No Ward office of the city BNP in the Puratan Kosba Dhaka Road area of Jashore town.
The object was recovered from inside the office around 10:30am on Friday, August 14.
Police and local sources said Mohammad Shahin, caretaker of the office, was cleaning the premises in the morning when he moved a bench and spotted an object wrapped in black scotch tape in a gap between bricks. He then informed local businessman Shariful Islam.
Upon receiving the news, BNP leaders of Ward 4 rushed to the office. Later, police were informed and a team led by Sub-Inspector Fazlu arrived at the scene and recovered the object.
Jashore Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Fazlu said it is initially believed that miscreants may have placed the object inside the office at night to create chaos. No casualties or damage were reported. The matter is being investigated.
4 No Ward BNP President Ali Hossain Madan claimed that activists of the banned Awami League could be involved in the incident. He demanded a swift and impartial investigation and legal action against those involved.
Police said the recovered object will be examined and further legal action will be taken accordingly.
