Explosive-like objects recovered near BNP leader's house in Meherpur

Police have recovered two explosive-like objects wrapped in red scotch tape from in front of a BNP leader's house in Gangni, Meherpur. The objects were found on Sunday morning in the Amtail village of Sholtaka Union in the upazila.

The discovery created panic among locals. Police from the Hemayetpur Police Camp later recovered the objects and took them into custody.

The BNP leader is Abul Hossain, president of Ward 7 of Sholtaka Union. His wife Afroza Khatun is serving as a panel chairman of the union.

Locals said the objects were seen lying in front of Abul Hossain's house in the morning, causing panic. Police were informed and recovered them.

Afroza Khatun said they did not know who had placed the objects in front of the house. She demanded an investigation and security for the family, claiming they had no enmity with anyone.

Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahaddis Morshed Chowdhury said the incident is being investigated. Efforts are underway to identify and bring those involved to justice.
