Export earnings decline by 5.66 percent in September
Bangladesh’s export earnings fell in September this year. According to the latest data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), export income stood at USD 2.84 billion for the month, marking a 5.66 per cent drop compared with the same period last year.
Data show that knitwear exports brought in USD 1.63 billion in September, down 5.75 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, woven garment exports stood at USD 1.21 billion, reflecting a 5.54 per cent decline.
However, the overall picture for the three-month period shows a slightly positive trend. In the first quarter of the 2025–26 fiscal year—July to September—total export earnings reached USD 9.97 billion, up 4.79 per cent compared with the same period last year.
During this time, knitwear exports rose to USD 5.58 billion, registering 4.31 per cent growth, while woven garment exports increased to USD 4.39 billion, indicating 5.41 per cent growth.
