External forces orchestrated conspiracy to disrupt harmony in CHT: Hasan Arif
A conspiracy to disrupt the harmony in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is being orchestrated by external forces, according to AF Hasan Arif, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
He made these comments to journalists after a meeting with local political and ethnic leaders, as well as security forces, regarding the ongoing situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts on Saturday.
The meeting took place at the Prantik Hall of the Rangamati Cantonment and lasted for about three hours.
“Everyone at the meeting expressed the desire for harmony, but we do not know where the disruptions are occurring. There is one phrase that everyone has uttered about disruption that is conspiracy. There is a conspiracy from outside to destroy our harmony.”
He added that a strong investigative committee is being formed to uncover who is involved in this conspiracy, and actions will be taken against those responsible.
Earlier, around noon, the home advisor and two other advisors arrived at the BGB Headquarters via helicopter.
Following clashes in Rangamati on Friday, joint patrols by the army, BGB, and police have been increased since that night.
Due to the imposition of Section 144 by the administration, the situation in Rangamati remains calm, with no gatherings or meetings occurring thus far.
An indefinite transport strike has been called, resulting in no vehicles on the main road, although personal vehicles are still operating on internal roads.
