Ex-US Ambassador Peter D. Haas in Cox’s Bazar

Former US Ambassador Peter D. Haas arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning. He landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at approximately 9:30 a.m on a US-Bangla Airlines flight. Accompanying him were two other individuals, identified as K. M. Atikul Islam and Mohammad Habibur Rahman Bhuiya, whose institutional affiliations remain undisclosed.

According to sources, the trio traveled from the airport to Moheskhali via speedboat from the BIWTA jetty in Nuniyarchar, Cox’s Bazar town.

Upon arrival in Moheskhali, the delegation visited the Accelerate Hope Hospital located in Kutubjom Union. The hospital was jointly established by the Hope Foundation and Accelerate Energy. Moheskhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Manjurul Haque confirmed that the delegation reached the hospital at 11 AM.

During the visit, the Bangladesh Country Director of the Hope Foundation welcomed the delegation. Ambassador Haas took the opportunity to gather information on the hospital’s overall operations. He also participated in a tree-planting ceremony organized jointly by Accelerate LNG Terminal and Hope Foundation in Kutubjom. Several officials from Hope Foundation were present during the event.

Following the program, the delegation proceeded to Big Moheskhali to attend additional events. Details of these subsequent engagements have not been disclosed.

Peter D. Haas, who serves as a strategic advisor to U.S.-based liquefied natural gas company Accelerate Energy, is on a visit to Moheskhali. According to sources, the delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.
