Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said, “A new crisis is emerging—fake coordinators. Similar to how the ‘Sixteen Division’ force suddenly appeared after the 1971 Liberation War, a comparable threat is now rising. If we don’t act promptly, this could become a major problem in the future.”

He made these remarks on Thursday (July 31) while serving as the chief guest at a discussion meeting focused on ensuring corruption-free services and enhancing service quality.

Speaking about the decline in administration, Dr. Momen said, “Governments come and go, but we have allowed institutional decay to reach a point where managing it has become very difficult.”

Referring to the interim government, he told officials, “We now have a valuable opportunity. The interim government is politically neutral, and without political pressure, our work environment improves. We should take advantage of this chance to bring about change. Taking sides is not beneficial for us. Our responsibility is to deliver impartial service—and that is what we will continue to do.”

On political influence, the ACC chairman stated, “We often say the administration has become politicized, but in my experience, many times we ourselves approach politicians. If we can stay neutral, real change is possible.”

He also addressed the upcoming election, saying, “The biggest challenge ahead is the election. The chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Yunus, has promised the nation a fair election. To ensure its success, we all need to be actively involved.”

Regarding the ACC’s priorities in fighting corruption, he said, “Our efforts should focus on preventing corruption in the future. Instead of spending all our time on past cases, it is crucial to concentrate on stopping current and future corruption. We must learn from past mistakes.”
