Fake female doctor detained at DMCH
A fake female doctor, Papia Akter Sworna, was detained from the ENT department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital's (DMCH) old building at around 12:45 pm on Sunday (November 17).
She was detained by Ansar personnel in charge of the hospital's security. Platoon Commander PC Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He stated, "During their regular morning patrol, an Ansar team was informed by a medical student on the third floor of the old building about an outsider posing as a doctor and wearing an apron with a name tag similar to hers. Finding the situation suspicious, the Ansar members alerted the on-duty doctors and presented the woman to them. However, none of the DMCH doctors recognized her."
"The accused woman was taken to the administrative office and presented to the hospital's director and deputy director. Following their advice, she was handed over to Inspector Md. Faruk, the in-charge of the DMCH police camp," Mizanur Rahman added.
Inspector Md. Faruk said that the woman had allegedly extorted BDT 28,000 from a patient named Md. Nur Alam, who was admitted on November 11 under Unit 6 of the ENT department. She was subsequently handed over to Shahbagh Police Station for further legal action. The patient, Nur Alam, hails from Ghagra village in Mithamain Upazila, Kishoreganj district, and is the son of Abdur Razzak.
The fake doctor, Papia Akter Sworna, hails from Wadia village in Monohardi Upazila of Narsingdi district. She is the daughter of Md. Anwar Hossain and currently lives in a rented house in Dhaka's Bakshibazar area.
