BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused a political rival of keeping the government preoccupied with various demands to delay the upcoming national elections.

Speaking at an exchange meeting in Danarhat Begunbari Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Thursday, Fakhrul said the BNP aims to win public support through love rather than revenge or retaliation. “There will be no compromise on the elections. The people want the polls held in February,” he emphasized.

He added that while citizens are eager to exercise their voting rights, a rival party is allegedly conspiring to obstruct the electoral process.

Fakhrul also highlighted the BNP’s resilience in the face of relentless persecution and oppression by the ruling Awami League. “Even though BNP leaders and activists were targeted with false cases while in power, our sole goal has always been to ensure the fall of the fascists and restore democracy,” he said.
