Fakhrul emphasises the need for structural change to advance state politics
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has emphasised the need for structural changes to advance state politics.
The senior BNP leader made the remarks while speaking at a discussion on the party's 31-point state reform proposal, held at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital on Thursday (14 November).
He shared a poignant moment, saying, "My grandson still asks me why, even after 53 years of independence, we face so much conflict and haven't achieved a peaceful transition of power."
Reflecting on recent history, Fakhrul mentioned that, after a prolonged struggle, the students and mass people managed to challenge "Awami fascism" on 5 August.
He explained that the 31-point reform initiative was developed not only by the BNP but in collaboration with all parties participating in the simultaneous movement.
Fakhrul expressed hope that these reforms would align with the various commissions the government has formed for state reforms.
