Four political leaders will accompany Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on his visit to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain confirmed on Wednesday (September 17).

Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, the foreign adviser said, "The inclusion of politicians in the delegation reflects the government’s move to gradually shift governance responsibilities to elected representatives as the country enters a new phase."

The delegation members are BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs adviser to BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and the party’s secretary for international affairs; Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, nayeb-e-ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; and Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

“This inclusion shows that political leadership is being prepared to take on greater responsibilities in governance,” Touhid Hossain said.

Chief Adviser Yunus will lead the delegation to the UNGA, where Bangladesh is expected to highlight its priorities in global cooperation, economic reforms, and democratic transition.
