Families of the students and teachers who lost their lives in the recent plane crash involving Uttara’s Milestone School and College have demanded Tk 7 crore in compensation for each deceased victim. The demand includes Tk 5 crore from the government and Tk 2 crore from the school authorities.

At a press briefing held Sunday afternoon at the entrance of the college’s administrative building, the victims' families also demanded Tk 2 crore compensation—Tk 1 crore each from the government and the school—for every injured student.

The families attempted to submit an eight-point memorandum to the college principal and adviser earlier, but the authorities reportedly refused to accept it.

The Eight Demands:

A fair and thorough investigation into the plane crash, and punishment of those responsible.

A complete ban on commercial coaching practices in Milestone and all educational institutions across the country.

Tk 5 crore compensation from the government for each deceased victim and Tk 1 crore for each injured student.

Tk 2 crore compensation from the school authorities for each deceased family and Tk 1 crore for each injured student.

Relocation or alternative arrangements for all educational institutions located near airport runways.

Removal and trial of the school's branch headmistress, Khadija, within 72 hours over alleged involvement in illegal coaching activities.

Public release of CCTV footage from the school during the incident.

Relocation of Air Force training activities to uninhabited areas to avoid future tragedies.

Confrontation on Campus

Parents allege that despite obtaining prior permission to enter the campus, they were barred by security guards upon arrival. They eventually entered the conference room, but school officials declined to accept the memorandum in the presence of journalists.

Due to the standoff, the families returned without submitting the document. Among those present were the mother of deceased student Afia, the uncle of Fatema, the father of Faiza, and the father of Tanvir Ahmed, along with 12–15 other grieving relatives.

School Responds

Speaking to the media, Shah Bulbul, Public Relations Officer of Milestone College, said: “We had requested that a small delegation of three or four representatives submit the memorandum. But when a large group arrived, it created a chaotic situation.”

He added that the college authorities are sympathetic to the affected families and will review and consider the demands raised.
