The distribution of family cards will begin in every upazila across the country, including Rangpur city, within the next 10 to 12 weeks, Social Welfare Minister Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain has said.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a meeting with officials of Rangpur division at the Rangpur District Social Services Office auditorium on Saturday afternoon, July 4.

"The current government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. We are ensuring that no one in the ministry gets involved in corruption," the minister said. "If anyone commits corruption, they will not be forgiven. The Anti-Corruption Commission and concerned departments are working on past corruption."

The minister said no one needs to go anywhere to get the family card. Every family will receive one, and the government will deliver the cards door-to-door. However, there are certain criteria to be eligible. To bring beneficiaries under the family card programme, the government will first recruit and train personnel, collect information door-to-door, and then verify the information through computer systems to determine who will receive the benefits.

He further said no cash transactions are now involved in any service under the Ministry of Social Welfare. Funds are directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts, ensuring they receive their money without intermediaries.
