Farmer found dead in Bogura
Police recovered the body of an elderly farmer beside his shallow machine shed in Gabtali, Bogura. The body was discovered around 9am in Salmara Bil, Nishindara Akandpara village of Mahishaban union on Sunday morning (March 29).
The deceased, Md. Abdul Latif Akand, 65, was the son of the late Mobarak Akand from Nishindara Pachmail area.
Local sources said Abdul Latif Akand was a farmer who used to operate a shallow machine for irrigation in his fields. He was in the shed carrying out irrigation work on Saturday night. It is believed that at some point during the night, unidentified assailants attacked and killed him.
Villagers found his body in the shed and informed the police, who later recovered it from the scene on Sunday morning.
The deceased’s nephew, Sohel, said that upon arriving around 8am, he saw his uncle had been murdered, left naked in the paddy field, and the irrigation shed was destroyed—likely indicating a struggle during the night.
Gabtali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Rakib Hasan, stated that the body showed multiple injuries. Police teams are investigating to determine the identity of the perpetrators and the motive behind the killing.
