Banned Chhatra League leaders and activists cut a farmer's ripe paddy on the banks of the Padma
Leaders and activists of the banned organization Chhatra League have cut a farmer's ripe paddy in a village on the banks of the Padma river in the Jajira upazila area of Shariatpur.
It is reported that 10-12 youths went to a paddy field in the Kunderchar area of Jajira upazila and cut a farmer's paddy on Tuesday (May 12). A video of the incident went viral on social media, where they can be seen shouting slogans while holding party flags.
In the video, they can be seen carrying the national flag as well as the Awami League and Chhatra League flags and chanting various slogans and later cutting the farmer's paddy and handing it over to a farmer. Later, the farmer can be heard thanking them in the video.
In this regard, Saleh Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Jajira police station, said that they have seen the video of the incident and work is underway to identify the relevant places as well as those involved. If they are identified, legal action will be taken.
According to local sources, the organization's activities have been limited since the political upheaval on August 5, 2024. Since then, their presence has been seen occasionally through flash programs and social activities.
