Farooki’s press conference postponed due to low journalist turnout
The press conference of Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was postponed due to the low presence of journalists.
The event was scheduled to take place at 2:00pm on Saturday at the Shahid Munir Chowdhury Auditorium of Bangla Academy, focusing on the topic of "Reforming Bangla Academy."
However, as only five journalists showed up at the scheduled time, the organizers waited an additional one and a half hours. When the number of journalists did not increase, Bangla Academy’s Director General, Professor Mohammad Azam, announced the postponement of the press conference.
At 2:30pm, the Director General informed the attending journalists that the press conference would begin at 3:00pm. But when the turnout did not improve even by 3:00pm, he returned half an hour later and officially announced the postponement.
This press conference was originally scheduled for Thursday (May 22) at 2:00pm, but was postponed citing “unavoidable reasons” by Bangla Academy’s Public Relations Department and rescheduled for Saturday (May 24) at 2:00pm.
Regarding the matter, Director General Professor Azam said, “Due to the low turnout of journalists, we are having to postpone the press conference for the second time. Once a new date is fixed, the journalists will be informed.”
