Fatal road accident in Mymensingh leaves 2 dead
A tragic road accident in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, claimed two lives, including an auto-rickshaw driver, and injured two others on Monday.
The incident occurred around noon at Chouka Bazar in Panchbagh Union under Pagla Police Station when a truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.
The deceased have been identified as Md. Iqbal Hossain (55), a businessman from Bamunkhali Bottola Bazar in Tangab Union, and Wasim (28), the auto-rickshaw driver and son of Abu Bakr from Dighirpar village in Panchbagh.
According to local sources, the auto-rickshaw was carrying passengers from Tangab Bottola Bazar to Chouka Bazar when the collision happened. Iqbal Hossain died instantly at the scene, while Wasim succumbed to his injuries later at Hosainpur Upazila Health Complex.
Two other injured individuals were transferred to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for further treatment.
Pagla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Alam confirmed the accident and stated that the truck driver has been detained. Legal action will be taken accordingly.
