Father arrested for raping daughter in Nilphamari

Police have arrested a man named Abdul Kuddus, 45, on charges of raping his own daughter in Nilphamari. He was apprehended from the Tupamari Shaplapara area in the Sadar Upazila on Sunday noon (May 17).

Abdul Kuddus is the son of the late Kalim Uddin of the same locality.

According to local sources, Kuddus's wife left the family a few years ago, leaving her two daughters behind at home. Last Friday (May 15), Kuddus allegedly raped one of his daughters. Following the assault, the child began bleeding profusely and disclosed the incident to her aunt.

As the news spread throughout the neighborhood, local residents caught Kuddus, tied him to a tree, and notified the police on Sunday afternoon. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and took him into custody.

Confirming the arrest, Zillur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nilphamari Sadar Police Station, stated that the victim's maternal grandmother filed a case as the plaintiff. Kuddus is being sent to jail through the court.
