Police have recovered the bodies of a father and his son from two separate locations in Tongi of Gazipur under suspicious circumstances early Sunday (April 26).

The deceased were identified as Md. Sohel Hossain, 52 and his son Sakib Hossain, 18.

According to police, Sakib’s body was found inside their residence in the Bonmala area of Tongi, while his father’s body was later recovered from a nearby railway track.

Law enforcement officials said Sakib’s body bore signs of a violent killing, with his mouth reportedly stuffed with cloth and both wrists severed before being strangled. Sohel’s body was found on the railway line with visible injury marks, suggesting a possible train impact.

Police have taken the family’s elder son, Sohan Hossain, 27, into custody for questioning.

The motive behind the killings remains unclear, authorities said.

Tongi East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mehedi Hasan said the case is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is underway. “We are examining all possible angles. The elder son is being interrogated,” he added.

The bodies have been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
