Wreet Sarkar, son of journalist Bibhuranjan Sarkar, said that his father had nose bleeding and his body also bore some injury marks.

He said: "Father had nose bleeding, there were some injury marks on body. We want to understand what has actually happened. We want to clarify the matter through those who are experienced in this matter."

He told this to the journalists present at the morgue of Munshiganj General Hospital while identifying Bibhuranjan's body at 8:45pm on Friday.

He said: "He took his meal and left the house on Thursday morning as usual, taking insulin. Before leaving, he had told mother that he would return home at 5:30pm. When father did not return after 5pm, we called him. But his phone was switched off. We filed a GD with Ramna Police Station. Later, we found his phone at home."

Meanwhile, Bibhuranjan's younger brother Chiraranjan Sarkar said: "We don't know if it was suicide, murder or a planned incident. We don't want to comment on this. We don't know how he died. I will only say this, so that no one else faces such an outcome."

When asked if Bibhuranjan Sarkar had any rift with anyone in his family, they said they didn't know anything about it. They said that Bibhuranjan was always calm. Nothing unusual was noticed in him on Thursday.

Journalist Bibhuranjan left his house in Siddheshwari in the capital around 10am on Thursday, saying he was going to work. He has not been found since then.

On Friday afternoon, locals saw a body floating in the Meghna River in Gazaria of Munshiganj, and called 999 to inform the police. Members of the Naval Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body at 3:45pm.
