Father kills 2-year-old son, buries body inside house in Mymensingh

In a tragic and disturbing incident, a two-year-old boy was killed by his father and buried inside the family home in the West Dhurail area of Dhurail Union on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Ayub Ali.

Police recovered the child’s body after being alerted by local residents.

The accused, Nurul Amin, 30, son of Fazlul Mia of the same village, has been arrested. According to family members, Nurul Amin has a history of mental illness.

Eyewitnesses and family sources reported that Nurul Amin took his son Ayub with him on Wednesday afternoon. Later, he allegedly threatened other family members with a machete and locked the house. In the evening, with the help of neighbors, the family managed to re-enter the home. When asked about the child's whereabouts, Nurul Amin claimed he did not know.

However, after noticing a freshly dug mound of soil next to the house, family members confronted him. Nurul Amin then confessed that the child had died from a head injury and that he had buried the body inside the house. He also admitted to killing and burying two goats at the same time.

Police recovered a machete and a hoe believed to have been used in the crime. The child’s body was exhumed and taken to the police station. Nurul Amin was taken into custody.

When asked, the deceased child’s uncle Fazlul Mia said, “My son is mad. We were not home. In the afternoon, I heard that my son beat his wife and took his grandson with him. In the evening, when I went home, I saw that he had killed the child and buried him in a hole.”

Haluaghat Circle ASP Sagar Sarkar said, “The police recovered the child’s body after receiving the news. The father has also been arrested. Legal proceedings are underway.”
