A massive controversy has erupted over a parliamentary speech delivered by Hafiz Abdul Muntakim, a Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Member of Parliament representing the Nilphamari-4 constituency.

During a session in the Jatiya Sangsad, the Jamaat lawmaker claimed a heavy family legacy in the 1971 Liberation War. "My father and my grandfather were martyred in the war. There were seven brothers in my father's generation, four of whom were freedom fighters. Among my grandfathers, 11 out of 19 were freedom fighters. In total, there are 47 freedom fighters in my family. My mother was also one of the key organizers of the Liberation War," MP Abdul Muntakim stated.

However, subsequent investigations into his official records have raised serious questions regarding the timeline of his claims.

According to his official election affidavit, Abdul Muntakim’s date of birth is listed as January 10, 1981—making him 44 years, 11 months, and 20 days old on the day he submitted his nomination papers. The public information available on Wikipedia also corroborates this exact birth date.

The glaring discrepancy has led to widespread public scrutiny and debate, with critics questioning on social media how the lawmaker could be born in 1981 if his biological father was martyred during the Liberation War in 1971.
