A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a father and his son as they were on their way to attend Eid prayers in Bogura on Saturday morning (June 7). The accident took place around 8:00am in the Naymile area of Shajahanpur upazila on the Dhaka-Bogura highway. The deceased were identified as Chan Mia, 35, and his 4-year-old son Abdullah, residents of Bamunia Mandalpara in the same upazila. According to Azizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station, the father and son were attempting to cross the highway by jumping over the central divider when a Dhaka-bound bus struck them. Both were killed on the spot. Police have recovered the bodies, and legal procedures are underway before handing them over to the family.

বগুড়ায় ঈদের নামাজ পড়তে যাওয়ার পথে বাসচাপায় বাবা ও ছেলে নিহত হয়েছেন। আজ শনিবার সকাল ৮টার দিকে শাজাহানপুর উপজেলার নয়মাইল এলাকায় ঢাকা-বগুড়া মহাসড়কে দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে। নিহতরা হলেন শাজাহানপুর উপজেলার বামুনিয়া মণ্ডলপাড়া এলাকার আব্দুর রাজ্জাকের ছেলে চাঁন মিয়া (৩৫) ও তার ছেলে আব্দুল্লাহ (৪)। শেরপুর হাইওয়ে থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আজিজুল ইসলাম এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, ঈদের নামাজ পড়ার জন্য চাঁন মিয়া ও তার ছেলে আব্দুল্লাহ বাড়ি থেকে বের হন। এ সময় তারা দুজনেই নয়মাইল এলাকায় ঢাকা-বগুড়া মহাসড়কের ডিভাইডারের ওপর দিয়ে লাফিয়ে পার হন। মহাসড়ক পার হওয়ার সময় ঢাকাগামী অজ্ঞাত একটি বাস তাদের দুজনকেই চাপা দিয়ে চলে যায়। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই দুজন মারা যান। তিনি আরও জানান, দুজনের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। এ ঘটনায় আইনগত প্রক্রিয়া শেষে মরদেহ হস্তান্তর করা হবে।
