Fazlur Rahman vows no compromise on Liberation War issues
Advocate Fazlur Rahman, member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, has firmly stated that he will not compromise on matters related to the Liberation War. He also denied making any statements accusing “black forces” of activities on August 5.
Speaking to reporters outside the High Court on Monday, Fazlur Rahman said he has received a show-cause notice from his party. The notice seeks an explanation regarding some of his remarks. “I will respond to the party within the given timeframe and will accept whatever decision the party makes regarding me,” he said.
Fazlur Rahman expressed concern over a group of seven to eight people who gathered outside his residence early Monday morning, chanting slogans against him. “I fought in the Liberation War to free this country. I want to ask the people of the country whether mob justice can be carried out against me,” he questioned.
He emphasized his fundamental right to live peacefully in the country, adding, “I am not afraid of death, but I do not deserve an unjust death.”
Reiterating his stance, Fazlur Rahman said, “I am a staunch supporter of the Liberation War and will not compromise on this issue. I have never made any statement claiming that black forces were responsible for incidents on August 5. If anyone has proof, they should present it.”
