A female doctor in Kushtia was pulled out of her chamber and beaten on the street by a group of women over fraud allegations.

The incident took place in front of the Life Diagnostic Center on Arjan Das Agarwala Road on Monday afternoon (May 5).

According to eyewitnesses, 6–7 women attacked Dr Sharmin Sultana as she entered her chamber, dragged her outside, and physically assaulted her. Parts of the incident were filmed and later circulated on social media.

The attackers claimed that Dr Sharmin had taken money from them with promises of jobs abroad but failed to deliver or return the money.

Dr Masud Rana, Sharmin’s husband, denied the allegations, calling them false and claiming the attack was premeditated. "An attempt was made to assault him as well when he arrived at the scene," he said.

She was later rescued by police from Kushtia Model Police Station and took her to the station for protection.

Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the validity of the claims made against her.

Later that night, a group of local doctors visited the police station, protesting the assault and demanding justice for the victim.
