A female police officer has accused Constable Safiur Rahman of raping her inside the South Keraniganj Police Station, sparking serious allegations of misconduct and a subsequent attempt to suppress the incident by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Mohammad Akhtar Hossain.

According to sources, the alleged assault occurred during the month of Ramadan when the women’s barracks on the second floor of the station were vacant. Constable Rahman, who serves as the OC’s personal bodyguard, reportedly locked the door, raped the officer, and recorded the act on his mobile phone. The victim claims Rahman threatened to release the video on social media if she disclosed the incident.

Despite repeated efforts to file a formal complaint, the OC allegedly refused to take action. The officer later informed senior police officials and threatened suicide, prompting Rahman to promise marriage—a commitment he ultimately did not fulfill. On August 16, the victim discreetly reported the matter to SI Md. Ibn Farhad, who attempted to resolve the issue internally.

Inspector (Investigation) Md. Al-Amin, whose hometown is near Rahman’s, allegedly sided with the accused, further isolating the victim. Sources within the station suggest that Rahman has a history of misconduct involving other female officers.

The victim, who was transferred from Ashulia to South Keraniganj in February, claims Rahman began harassing her shortly after her arrival. On August 17, she formally requested OC Hossain to file a case, but he declined. She then submitted a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dhaka District, bringing the matter to light. Attempts to settle the issue internally have reportedly failed.

Efforts to contact Constable Rahman for comment were unsuccessful.

Responding to the allegations, OC Syed Mohammad Akhtar Hossain stated; 'an incident involving a female officer did occur, but she did not file any complaint with me. Both individuals have been transferred to the police lines. The matter is now under the supervision of the Dhaka District SP'.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to confirm whether formal charges will be filed.
