Feni police arrest youth over obscene post on Zaima Rahman
Police have arrested a youth in Feni's Dagonbhuiyan for posting obscene and objectionable content on Facebook about Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Mosleh Uddin Jony, 25, was arrested from his residence in the East Joynarayanpur area of Rajapur union on Monday afternoon, June 29. He is the son of late Md Mostafa of the area.
According to local sources, Jony posted objectionable content about Zaima Rahman from his personal Facebook ID. The matter came to the attention of local Chhatra Dal leaders and activists, sparking outrage in the area. On Monday afternoon, local youths, led by Rajapur union Chhatra Dal leader Nazim Uddin Chowdhury and others, surrounded and detained Jony after learning of his whereabouts. He was tied to a grille and police were informed.
In a video filmed after his arrest, Jony can be heard claiming that the viral screenshot was edited, though he admitted the Facebook ID and mobile phone used for the post were his.
Local sources said Jony passed his Dakhil examination from Rajapur Alim Madrasa in 2021 and has been unemployed since. He had previously posted critical content on social media on various political issues.
Dagonbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Fayzul Azim said Jony was arrested over the offensive posts. A case is being prepared for filing.
