Ferry services resume on Daulatdia-Paturia route
Ferry services on the Daulatdia–Paturia ferry route resumed on Saturday morning after being suspended for nearly four hours due to adverse weather conditions.
Operations restarted around 7:00am as strong winds and heavy rain subsided, allowing vessels to safely navigate the river.
Earlier, ferry movement was halted at around 3:20am after sudden gusty winds and rainfall made the Padma River rough, raising safety concerns.
Jesanul Islam Topu, assistant manager (commerce) at the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation Daulatdia ghat, said services were suspended as a precaution. During the disruption, eight ferries remained anchored at the Paturia end and four at Daulatdia, with no vessels stranded mid-river.
Ferry operations resumed following improvement in weather conditions, with 12 ferries currently operating on the route, officials said.
Although the temporary suspension caused some vehicle congestion at both terminals, the situation is gradually returning to normal as services continue.
