Ferry services resume on Paturia–Daulatdia route after 15 hours
Ferry operations on the Paturia–Daulatdia route have resumed after being suspended for nearly 15 hours due to dense fog. Services restarted on Saturday (December 27) at around 10:40am when the fog cleared, according to officials.
The fog had intensified on Friday evening, reducing visibility to the point where the channel markers were barely visible. To ensure safe navigation and prevent accidents, ferry services on the route were suspended around 7:15pm Friday.
Salam Hossain, acting deputy general manager of the Commercial Branch of BIWTC, said that ferry operations resumed once the fog lifted on Saturday morning. Currently, 10 ferries are operating on the route. Vehicles waiting on both ghats are being ferried in sequence due to the long suspension.
Meanwhile, ferry services on the Aricha–Kajirhat route on the Jamuna River were also suspended from around 8:30pm Friday because of dense fog.
Abu Abdullah, manager of Aricha Ferry Ghat, confirmed that services resumed on Saturday morning around 10:00am as the fog cleared.
