Ferry services resumed on Aricha-Kazirhat, Paturia-Daulatdia routes

Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes resumed after a 3-hour suspension due to dense fog on Sunday morning.

Ferry services were suspended at around 5:15 am on the Aricha-Kazirhat route and 6:30 am on the Paturia-Daulatdia route, but resumed at 8:30 am and 9:00am, respectively, as the fog cleared.

During the time being, two ferries, Hasna Hena and Keramat Ali, were stranded in the middle of the river, while six ferries at Paturia Ghat and two at Daulatdia Ghat remained stationary with passengers and vehicles onboard.

Nasir Chowdhury, deputy general manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha sector, said, 'Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were halted at 6:30am due to poor visibility.'

'Ferries stranded mid-river safely reached their destinations and vehicles waiting at the ghats began crossing the river,' he added.
