Festive mood at Secretariat as offices reopen after Eid
After a 10-day closure for Eid-ul-Adha, the Secretariat, the administrative hub of the government, has reopened, with officials and staff returning to work amidst a festive atmosphere.
On Sunday (June 15), the first working day after the holidays, employees were seen exchanging Eid greetings and warm embraces with colleagues, creating a lively and cheerful environment across the Secretariat.
A visit to several key ministries — including the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief — revealed that most officials were present and work had resumed as usual.
Parking areas inside the Secretariat were operating normally, filled with vehicles as on regular days. However, foot traffic in corridors and near elevators appeared lighter than usual.
The last working day before the Eid break was June 4. The extended holiday began on June 5 and continued until June 14, giving government employees a total of 10 consecutive days off.
Earlier, on May 6, the Secretariat’s Advisory Council decided through an executive order to grant additional holidays on June 11 and 12 (Wednesday and Thursday). To accommodate this extended break, offices were kept open on two Saturdays prior to Eid.
Thanks to these adjustments, government employees enjoyed an uninterrupted 10-day holiday for Eid-ul-Adha.
