Final voter list published for JUCSU election, 11,919 students eligible to vote

The final voter list for the long-awaited Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and hall union elections has been officially released. According to the list, a total of 11,919 students are eligible to cast their votes.

The final list was published on the university’s official website at midnight on Sunday, August 17. Following its release, the university's election commission commenced the distribution and submission of nomination papers from a temporary election office set up in the university’s old administrative building.

As per the election schedule, candidates can collect and submit nomination forms starting from 9:00am (Monday, August 18). However, as of 11:30am,, no candidates had collected or submitted their forms.

Earlier, on August 10, the commission had published a draft voter list along with a preliminary code of conduct. Students whose names were not included were given the opportunity to appeal. After reviewing the applications, the final list and the official code of conduct were published.

The upcoming election marks a historic moment for the university, as JUCSU polls are being held for the first time in 33 years. The election is scheduled to take place on September 11.
