Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is scheduled to address a post-budget press conference on Friday afternoon (June 12), where he is expected to explain key features of the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year and respond to questions from the media.

The briefing will be held at 3:00pm at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, according to Finance Ministry officials.

The press conference comes a day after the finance minister presented the country's largest-ever national budget, with a proposed outlay of Tk 9,38,000 crore, in the Jatiya Sangsad.

Officials said the minister will outline the government's development priorities, fiscal strategy and major policy initiatives contained in the budget. He is also expected to explain how the government plans to address ongoing domestic and global economic challenges, including inflationary pressures, investment needs and revenue mobilisation.

The event is likely to provide further clarification on several budgetary measures that have drawn attention from economists, business leaders and the general public since the budget was unveiled.

Presented under the theme, “Economic Democratization and Decentralization: Bangladesh on the Path to a Trillion-Dollar Economy,” the proposed budget is equivalent to nearly 17 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
