Fire at 12 jhut warehouses in Gazipur brought under control after four hours
A fire that broke out at 12 jhut warehouses in Konabari of Gazipur, was brought under control after nearly four hours of efforts by five Fire Service units on Thursday morning (August 27).
The fire was brought under control around 9:30am, nearly four hours after it broke out at around 5:30am in the Dewalia Bari area under Konabari Metro Police Station.
According to locals and the Fire Service, the fire originated at a jhut warehouse owned by Bacchu Mia. Flames quickly spread to several adjacent warehouses, prompting residents to alert the Fire Service.
Three units from Konabari Fire Station initially responded to the scene. As the blaze intensified, two more units from Sarabo Modern Fire Station joined the operation.
Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control around 9:30am, although strong winds made the operation more difficult, said Saiful Islam, station officer of Konabari Fire Service.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be determined after an investigation, he added.
