Fire at 26-storey building in Banani, brought under control in 1.5 hours

Fire has broken out on the 23rd floor of a multi-storey building in Banani of Dhaka. This fire broke out at the office of a buying house of the 26-storey building named Ahmed Tower in the afternoon on Saturday. Later two units of the Fire Service extinguished the fire in the effort of about 14 minutes.

Media officer of the Fire Service Anwarul Islam informed that two units of Baridhara Fire Station went to the spot at 5:56pm on Saturday and started working to bring the fire under control. The fire was completely extinguished at 6:10pm.

He said fire had broken out at the air-conditioning machine and the computer server of the office of the buying house. No casualty occurred in the fire.

Earlier the Fire Service received the news of fire breaking out at the building around 5:30pm. After receiving the news two units were sent to the spot quickly.

The Fire Service could not inform how the origin of the fire took place primarily and what amount of damage has occurred in it. The concerned have informed that the matter is being examined.

The building is located right beside FR Tower of Banani. 26 persons were killed and about 70 persons were injured in a devastating fire at that FR Tower on March 28 of 2019.
