Fire at Babubazar 14-storey building brought under control

A fire broke out at a 14-storey building in the Babubazar Bridge area of the capital on Tuesday morning (December 23) but was brought under control.

The fire was brought under control around 7:20am after nearly 40 minutes of effort by nine Fire Service units.

According to Fire Service sources, the blaze was reported at around 6:40am on the sixth floor of Haji Tower, a 14-storey building located in Armanitola, adjacent to Babubazar Bridge. Firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert and began extinguishing operations.

A total of nine units took part in the operation—two from Sadarghat Fire Station, five from Siddikbazar Fire Station, and two from Sutrapur Fire Station. After nearly 40 minutes of effort, the fire was brought under control at around 7:20am.

No casualties have been reported so far. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately, fire officials said.
