Fire at Chattogram EPZ factory brings under control

A fire that broke out at the Jant Accessories factory in the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chattogram has been brought under control. The blaze was fully contained by the Fire Service at around 4:15 PM on Friday (July 11).

The fire initially started at around 2:45 PM the same day. Upon receiving the alert, three units from the Agrabad, EPZ, and Bandar fire stations quickly rushed to the scene and began firefighting efforts. They were later joined by five more units, bringing the total to eight. After nearly an hour and a half of effort, the fire was successfully brought under control.

According to the Chattogram Divisional Fire Service Control Room, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

KEPZ Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamir Hossain confirmed that the fire has been fully contained.
