Fire at Dhaka airport: Two flights land in Kolkata
Two Dhaka-bound flights from Chennai and Delhi have landed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata after flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were temporarily suspended due to a fire at the Cargo Village.
Following the fire outbreak at the Cargo Village around 5 pm on Saturday, the two flights from Chennai and Delhi requested emergency landing clearance from Kolkata’s Air Traffic Control (ATC).
According to Kolkata airport authorities, both aircraft are parked on runways 42 and 43, and all necessary emergency services have been arranged for passengers.
Earlier at around 2 pm, a fire broke out at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. A total of 37 units from 13 fire service stations are currently working to bring the blaze under control.
