Fire at Furnace Oil Factory in Gazipur
A massive fire broke out after a boiler exploded at a factory producing furnace oil from tires in the Pubail area of Gazipur city.
The accident occurred at a factory named 'Auto Green' in the Pubail College Gate area around 2:15 pm on Saturday.
According to the fire service and local sources, the boiler used to process old tires to produce oil exploded due to excessive temperature. The fire spread inside the factory immediately after the explosion. The combustible materials, old tires and cars, were stored, so the fire quickly became deadly.
After the incident, thick black smoke spread into the sky, covering the entire surrounding area. This created panic among the locals and many moved to safer places.
Local residents alleged that the factory had been burning old tires to produce oil for a long time, due to which stench and environmental pollution had become a regular problem in the area. They demanded strict monitoring of such risky industries.
Upon receiving the information, two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Tongi Station quickly reached the spot and started working to control the fire. After about an hour of effort, the fire was brought under control around 3:15 pm.
Fire Service Senior Station Officer Shahin Alam said, no casualties have been reported so far. After the fire is completely extinguished, a detailed damage assessment will be made inside the factory.
