Fire at Gazi Auto Tyres Factory remains uncontrolled
A massive fire broke out at the Gazi Auto Tyres Factory in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila yesterday. Despite the efforts of 11 fire service units, the blaze could not be brought under control.
The fire erupted around 10:30 pm on Sunday (August 25). Talha Bin Jasim, the media cell officer at the fire service headquarters, confirmed the matter.
Sources said the fire service rushed to the scene after being informed about the blaze at 10:35 pm. Eleven units from Demra, Kanchpur, Adamji EPZ, and Kanchan Fire Stations were deployed.
According to locals, following the arrest of Golam Dastagir Gazi, the former minister and chairman of Gazi Group, the factory has experienced significant looting, with hundreds of people trapped inside during the incident.
Despite the simultaneous efforts of 11 units, the fire was not brought under control overnight. The fire service reported that the cause and extent of the damage will be assessed once the fire is fully extinguished.
