A fire that broke out at an old building in the capital's Mohakhali area was brought under control on Thursday afternoon (September 10) after three units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence responded to the blaze. Talha Bin Jasim, an officer at the Fire Service headquarters’ media cell, said the fire broke out at a building behind British American Tobacco in Mohakhali and was brought under control around 12:40pm. The Fire Service received the report of the fire at around 11:12am and deployed three units to the scene. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not immediately known. No casualties had been reported.

রাজধানীর মহাখালীতে একটি পুরোনো ভবনে লাগা আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে এসেছে। ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ৩টি ইউনিট চেষ্টা চালিয়ে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। ফায়ার সার্ভিসের সদর দপ্তরের মিডিয়া সেলের কর্মকর্তা তালহা বিন জসিম বলেন, মহাখালীর ব্রিটিশ আমেরিকান ট্যোবাকোর পেছনের ভবনে লাগা আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে এসেছে বেলা ১২টা ৪০ মিনিটে। আমাদের ৩টি ইউনিট কাজ করে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে এনেছে। এর আগে বৃহস্পতিবার (১০ সেপ্টেম্বর) বেলা ১১টা ১২ মিনিটে আগুন লাগার খবর পায় ফায়ার সার্ভিস। এদিকে এখন পর্যন্ত আগুন লাগার কারণ ও ক্ষয়ক্ষতির পরিমাণ জানা যায়নি। এছাড়া আগুনে হতাহতের কোনো খবরও পাওয়া যায়নি।
