Fire at Pakistan High Commissioner's residence in Baridhara

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and his wife Naima Imran have been hospitalised after a fire caused by a short circuit at their residence in Dhaka's Baridhara. They were admitted to Continental Hospital in Gulshan after suffering from smoke inhalation.

The information was shared in a message on Thursday, August 6.

The message said Imran Haider and his wife were taken to the hospital around 9am on Thursday and have been under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since then.

Preliminary information suggests the fire broke out around 4:55am due to a short circuit at the High Commissioner's residence in Baridhara. After suffering from smoke inhalation, the High Commissioner and his wife were taken to hospital.

They are being treated under the supervision of Dr Amina Sultana. Both are currently in stable condition, the message said.

Details regarding the extent of damage to the residence and how the fire was brought under control were not immediately available.
