Fire at Pran factory in Habiganj kills 1 worker

A worker died and another 40 people were injured in a fire incident at a Pran factory in Shayestaganj upazila in Habiganj.

Five units of fire service and civil defense brought the fire under control.

Mobarak Hossain, OC of Shayestaganj police station, said that a fire broke out in the chips factory of building number 13 of Pran Company at Habiganj Industrial Park in Alipur union of the upazila on Wednesday (April 10) around 4:00pm.

The name of the deceased worker is Nazma Begum, said Ehsanul Haque, assistant general manager of Pran Company.

He said, “The incident of fire spread panic. Around 40 workers were injured while leaving in a hurry. Nazma Begum died when she jumped off from the sixth floor.”

OC Mobarak Hossain said quoting the fire service, "The fire was brought under control after two and a half hours of effort. But the cause of the fire needs to be investigated."
