Fire at Shahjalal Airport fully under control
The fire at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has been brought completely under control, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has confirmed.
According to a press release published on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser at 8:53 pm on Saturday (18 October), the fire broke out at around 2:15 pm in the airport’s Cargo Village. Thanks to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the Fire Service and airport authorities, the blaze was brought fully under control. The ministry also confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.
The press release further stated that Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, has been present at the airport, closely monitoring the entire situation. The ministry is working in close coordination with all relevant agencies to carry out necessary operations efficiently.
Meanwhile, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has formed a seven-member committee to investigate the fire. The committee has been asked to submit its report within five working days, identifying the cause of the fire, assessing the extent of the damage, identifying those responsible, and providing recommendations to prevent such incidents in future.
