A fire that broke out at the fabric warehouse of Ananta Apparels Ltd in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj was brought under control after nearly four hours of firefighting efforts on Wednesday (July 15).

The blaze was contained through the joint efforts of nine Fire Service units, confirmed Deputy Director of Dhaka Division Fire Service, Saleh Uddin.

However, the extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

According to local residents and factory workers, the fire originated around 4:15am in the warehouse and spread rapidly, triggering panic in the surrounding area.

Saleh Uddin said the Fire Service received the emergency call at 4:00am. An EPZ Fire Service unit initially responded, but as the intensity of the blaze increased, a total of 11 units from Narayanganj, Kanchpur and nearby stations were dispatched to the scene.

He said the fire was eventually brought under control after sustained efforts by nine active units.

"As the fire occurred in a fabric warehouse, small pockets of fire are still being extinguished through damping-down operations. There is no major risk at this stage," he said.

The cause of the fire and the total financial losses will be determined after a formal investigation, officials added.
