Fire breaks out at Khaza Market in Chawkbazar

A fire broke out at Khaza Market at Chawkbazar in Old Dhaka on Saturday (July 4).

The fire started around 1:45pm on the third floor of a shop inside the five-storey Ashiq Tower, according to Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam, who confirmed the incident.

Multiple Fire Service units rushed to the scene to bring the blaze under control.

Anwarul Islam said two Fire Service units initially reached the spot and began firefighting efforts, before four additional units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station joined to help bring the situation under control.

The Fire Service said the cause of the blaze could not be immediately determined. No casualties have been reported so far in connection with the incident.

Fire Service personnel remain on site working to fully extinguish the blaze and assess the extent of the damage.
